Cheese Wedding Cake

Cheese Wedding Cake

Here she is in all her glory. Isn’t this just the best thing you’ve ever seen? Well, I’m pretty darn stoked!

Nine tiers of cheese…nine! We may have over-catered considering we are having 60 day guests and 115 evening guests in total, but our plan is to have white cardboard mini boxes for people to take some to have at home, and then for me and the old ball and chain to live on cheese alone for the foreseeable future. I am okay with that. It took a while, but I’ve made my peace with it.

Big thanks to the fine folks at The Cheese Shed. They have been friendly and communicative, and their selection of cheeses is fantastic. As far as I know they are the only site with a wedding cheese tower builder, so you can see what your finished ‘cake’ will look like. What’s that? “It will just look like a tower of cheese”, I hear you say? True to some extent I guess, however we wanted to make sure that ours was a good mix of colours and textures…i.e. Not too much white or yellow cheese but a good balance of shades.

On the day it will be decorated with grapes and figs. We will have our three course wedding breakfast and then cheese will be served with Kilner jars of my mom’s homemade allotment grown beetroot chutney. Then it’ll go into the fridge, and get brought back out when the evening buffet is served. I don’t know about you, but there’s always room for one more sliver of cheese in my opinion?

If you’re thinking of having cheese instead of/as well as cake, give them a look: http://www.thecheeseshed.com.

Big love,
